Finding Your Truth & Artivism
Creative Strategist
Executive Producer
In March 2019, our client - Macy’s Tourism (the tourism division of Macy’s Department Store) - came to us with a request to capture content around World Pride in NYC that June. The event also coincided with the 50 year anniversary of Stonewall Riots. Although the original request was around event capture, I saw a larger opportunity for Macy’s and impactful content.

Artivism - An Odyssey Original
Macy’s approved my proposal - create a short series of videos that focused on members of the LGBTQ+ community and their proactive impacts, intertwined with Macy’s free MyStylist offering. The episodes centered on the idea of finding and living one’s truth. The series - which was tied in with other content to promote Macy’s Pride + Joy campaign - was developed to create strong realizations and positive conversations. It was core as a producer to collaborate with a team of people that would keep that focus, raise the bar and not detour from authenticity.
After a successful launch with over 50,000 views in the first week alone, we started concepting what a season two would look like. However, the pandemic tabled the project for several months. After several asked what was next for the series in Fall 2020, we redeveloped the project to be more broad-reaching. The new series' focus would be to allow for even more conversations to be told based on the destination we’d tell them. This would allow dialogue around race, ethnicity, accessibility and more to have a positive home and impact a larger audience. We would tell these stories through positive changemakers in the communities - using their art to intersect with proactive activism. The evolved series is called "Artivism".
