My first day on set of ‘Life’s Rewards’ in January 2021 was my first time truly feeling like I was right where I was supposed to be professionally. It was not an easy day, but being at the center of the creative and the problem solving and the creative problem solving was home.
The series started a year earlier, when we led a 2.5-day long development session with our client. After pandemic-related delays, we were back on track and netted being one of the first productions in Florida. The pride, unity and camaraderie on set was beyond palpable. And being behind the camera with the directors, collaborating with the department leads and talent, and working with stakeholders and producers on the budget and general production needs was right where I wanted to be.

The fact this was the first scripted project I worked on in nearly a decade was a huge part of it. I love non-scripted for the authenticity and conversations it can encourage, but I’m a writer and storyteller. And there’s nothing like being able to take a blank canvas and develop to every aspect and detail in order to craft the story to connect with an audience.

In April 2021, after a breakneck production pace, we premiered at the Sunscreen Film Festival in St. Pete, Florida. That evening, we took home the award for Breakthrough Streaming Series. An honor proudly accepted on behalf of such an amazing crew and team!

We quickly dove into developing the next season as a partial anthology, focused on a key supporting character from the first season and diving into a more localized and familial perspective. The season launched on Amazon Prime in May 2022!
